PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin handling device with which the uneasiness of a user is canceled by shortening time required for displaying the amount of a first coin after the coin is inserted, and all inserted coins can be paid back without making the user wait long when a reject switch is operated after coins are inserted. SOLUTION: Concerning a coin handling device 20 provided with a conveyer belt 23 for conveying plural coins inserted into a slot, separating part 27 for separating the plural coins one by one, scoop-up conveyer belt 28 for conveying the separated coins upward, identifying part 29 arranged high for receiving the coins conveyed upward by the scoop-up conveyer belt 28 one by one, identifying and discriminating denominations or the like, and control part 30 for controlling the operation of these components, the conveyer belt 23 is endlessly spread by at least two pulleys 24 and 25 and vertically moves the upstream side pulley with the downstream side pulley as a supporting point. Only the first coin is sent to the identifying part 29 at high speed and the identified result is speedily displayed.
