PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low cost image reader with a capability of reading an image with a high resolution or a high magnification. SOLUTION: The image reader is provided with a hard disk unit 14 that stores color component data obtained by line sensors 11R, 11G, 11B over an entire image 21 and a controller 16 that controls the read/write position of the color component data on the hard disk unit 14 so as to cancel the timing offset of image scanning by the line sensors 11R, 11G, 11B.
