PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AM radio receiver which can generate a sound signal over a wide band. SOLUTION: The AM radio receiver has a mixer circuit, an IF amplification part 2 which amplifies the output of the mixer circuit, and an AM detection part 4 which detects the signal from the IF amplification part 2 and the IF amplification part 2 is equipped with IF amplifiers 21... having filters for mutually different bands on the positive and negative sides, and an interference state decision part 3 discriminates the band where a disturbing station is present from the outputs of these IF amplifiers and when the disturbing station is present on one side, the AM detection part 4 performs detection by a synchronous detection part 42 by using the band on the side where the disturbing station is not present according to the decision result.
