PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer chip inductor having a high Q and a high self-resonance frequency suitable for low cost chip mounting, and a production method thereof, in which production cost can be reduced by reducing the machining man-hours while improving the high frequency characteristics and reducing the size. SOLUTION: The multilayer chip inductor comprises a multilayer chip 10 incorporating a coil-like inner conductor 11 wound in one direction around a center line O intersecting the multilayer direction A of a green sheet orthogonally, and external electrodes 12 provided at the opposite sides on one side face of the multilayer chip 10 and connected electrically with the coil-like inner conductors 11.
