PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adapter system and an image pickup system capable of easily picking up the enlarged image of a microscope by using an image pickup system such as a digital camera. SOLUTION: In the case of using the digital camera 31 on the side of the C mount part 33 of the microscope 32, the camera 31 is attached to the C mount part 33 of the microscope 32 through a C mount adapter 21 and an optical adapter 1. In the case of using the camera 31 on the side of the ocular part 34 of the microscope 32, the camera 31 is attached to the ocular part 34 of the microscope 32 through the adapter 1.
