PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide optical noncontact detection of foreign matter in raw material effectively in a process for supplying food material by a conveyer or the like. SOLUTION: Food material 2 conveyed by a first conveying means 1, is dropped through a reflecting mirror 4, and is supplied to a second conveying means 6. Light is irradiated from a light source 3 on a side of the reflecting mirror 4 and reflected light from the food material 2 is imaged by an imaging means 11 through a scan mirror 14. An image in a mid infrared raw region, an image in a near infrared ray region, and an image in a visible light region are respectively imaged by an imaging element 10b, an imaging element 20b, and an imaging element 30b, respectively. An image processing means 17 processes the images and a data processing part 18 detects the foreign matter from brightness of the images based on absorbance in each of the wavelength regions.
