PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminous display that reduces the Likelihood of pollution between an anode and a cathode, with gap setting and positioning between the cathode and the anode easily executed at the same time. SOLUTION: The luminous display has an electron emitter 20''' operating in the surface conducting mode of voltage bias type, and a fluorescent surface 23''' mounted on the anode 22'''. The electron emitter 20''' and the fluorescent surface 23''' are mounted on a common base plate 28''' such that they face toward the same direction.
