PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a coloring matter type polarizing film having both high durability and high polarization by adopting a simple manufacturing method. SOLUTION: A polarizing sheet comprising a discotic liquid crystal film consisting of discoid coloring matter arranged in a state such that the coloring matter is oriented vertically to the surface of the sheet and uniaxially by discotic liquid crystalline molecules fixed in a state that the molecules are oriented vertically to the surface of the sheet and uniaxially.
