PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an information processor, on which a special instruction for subroutine return is not prepared, to correctly recognize an instruction equivalent to subroutine return. SOLUTION: The register number of a link register specified by the instruction equivalent to a subroutine call is recorded in a link stack 33 and a comparing circuit 32 compares the number of a branch destination address register for a branch instruction which possibly makes the subroutine return with the recorded register number. When the both match each other, the branch instruction is recognized as the instruction equivalent to the subroutine return.
