OPTICAL FIBER INTEGRATED TYPE FERRULE AND ITS MANUFACTURING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive optical fiber integrated type ferrule which is free of the problem that an optical fiber peels off in a heat cycle due to an adhesive, high in the mount position precision of the optical fiber, and tightly coupled and a method which can manufacture the ferrule at low cost in a single process with good mass-productivity. SOLUTION: While an optical fiber 10 or a metal pipe in which the optical fiber is fit is inserted into a metallic mold 1 having a cavity 2 prescribing the external shape of the ferrule for an optical connector, a high-temperature liquid material, e.g. molten alloy A' is injected and then cooled and solidified to manufacture an optical fiber integrated ferrule in which the optical fiber is tightly fixed or an optical fiber integrated type ferrule in which the optical fiber is tightly fixed across the buried metal pipe.
