The invention relates to a device for introducing samples and for atomising liquid samples for spectroscopic measurements. Said device comprises a tube furnace which has a flame-heated tube and an instrument for introducing a sample into said flame-heated tube. In a device of this type, a capillary tube is connected to the flame-heated tube via a sample introduction opening and a pump is provided for transporting a liquid sample through the capillary tube, whereby the sample is partially or completely vaporised in the capillary tube which acts as a thermospray and flows into the tube in this state. This device produces a significantly improved detection capability in the flame technique atom absorption spectrometry (flame-AAS) in relation to prior art, whereby particular advantages are produced in the handling of microsample quantities.
