The invention refers to a large-scale activator for the activation of large quantities of security elements for the electronic article protection; to several devices for supplying current to said activator; and to a method for the operation of the large-scale activator. The large-scale activator is suitable for the simultaneous activation of larger quantities of security elements. A corresponding method is proposed to limit the current necessary to generate the activating magnetic field. In addition, an apparatus for the supply of this current is provided.
