PURPOSE:To attain a required extent of attenuation without especially providing an attenuator or the like by attaching an annular member to the front end of an optical connector ferrule. CONSTITUTION:A clamping part 3 consisting of a small-diameter part is formed in the end part of a ferrule 2 having an optical fiber 1 in the center. A clamping part 4a consisting of the inside peripheral part of an annular member 4 whose outside diameter is smaller than that of the ferrule 2 is press-fitted to and detained by the clamping part 3, and the annular member 4 is adjusted to such proper length that its front end 4b is projected from an end part 2a of the ferrule 2. The annular member 4 consists of elastic materials like plastics. A front end 6b of an annular member 6 is brought into contact with a front end 7a of a conventional optical connector ferrule 7 to form a gap between front ends 2a and 7a at the time of connection between both optical connector ferrules 2 and 7, thereby attenuating the optical power transmitted between optical fibers without using a special attenuator. |
