The rail bed consists of concrete panels (14) with expansion gaps separating them into sections. The load is spread between sections across these gaps by short, plastic coated steel rods (44). These preferably have a length of 40 -60, especially 50 cm., a diameter of 20 -30, especially 25 mm. and are spaced 20 -50, especially 30 cm. apart.
