A method for continuous production of polyisobutene with a number average molecular weight <o>MN</o> from 500 - 50000 and a content of terminal double bonds of at least 50 mol %, comprising a single- or multi-stage polymerisation of isobutene, in the liquid phase, in the presence of a boron trifluoride catalyst and at least one oxygen containing compound, at a temperature below +40 DEG C, whereby the liquid reaction phase has, at least in the first polymerisation step, a viscosity of 6 to 20 mm<2> /s (measured according to DIN 51562).
