The invention relates to a method for dosing fuel with a fuel injection valve (1), in particular an injection valve for a fuel injection unit of an internal combustion engine. Said fuel injection valve has an actuator (14) and a valve closing body (6) with a valve lift which can be operated by said actuator (14) cooperating with a valve seat surface (5) to form a sealing seat. The valve closing body (6) and/or the valve seat surface (5) has at least one turning element (27, 41) for generating a rotating flow. The actuator (14) operated valve lift has a variable opening speed in order to generate a variable fuel distribution of a fuel injected by said fuel injection valve (1). A transition from an at least approximately injected fuel non-rotating pre-flow to an injected fuel rotating flow can be attained by varying the opening speed.
