The invention relates to a sound-damping arrangement which forms part of in particular a fan unit 1, is adapted so as to be capable of being connected before and/or after a fan 5 and consists of a duct section for conducting the air flow acted on by the fan of the fan unit. Said duct section 9 is arranged helically and consists of a plate or the like rolled up into a number of turns, with one or more end-wall portions and with a central portion 12b arranged so as to face towards the fan. The number of turns is between 2 and 10, preferably between 3 and 5, and the distance between two adjacent turns is between 3 and 30 mm, preferably between 5 and 15 mm.
