The photocurrent generation and control method has a laser pulse interacting with an electrically-contacted zero-dimension system (1) provided by part of a semiconductor photodiode structure, e.g. subjected to a pulsed electrostatic field, for providing an electronic transition corresponding to Rabi oscillation. An independent claim for an optoelectronic component for generating a photocurrent is also included.
