Hydrogen storage apparatus (20) comprises a compact (30) which is formed by molding hydrogen occlusion alloy powder to predetermined shape. A temperature control unit which controls the temperature of compact is also provided. An Independent claim is also included for hydrogen storage system formed by connecting two or more hydrogen storage apparatus. The system comprises an electric power unit which supplies electric current to hydrogen storage apparatus, and a resistance value control system which makes the total internal resistance value of compact (included in each hydrogen storage apparatus) in accordance with the internal resistance value of electric power unit.
