The mineral binder should consist of half-calcined finely particulate dolomite (MgO + CaCO3) which is admixed to 5-25% of the remaining mineral substances. Preferably the mixture of fine to sand size mineral plus half-calcined dolomite and magnesium chloride are subsequently admixed by a binder which is in the form of the coarse residue of the 0-30 mm fraction and which differs in specific density from that of the remaining stowage mixture. The pure dolomite binder can be replaced by a mixture based on calcium oxide or on calcium hydroxide. All the residuals plus magnesium chloride brine and a half-calcined dolomite are mixed into a viscous pulp or paste to be piped (3) by viscous materials pump (2) so as to solidify within the salt cavity being filled (4). A first mixer prepares the first mixture of powdered residue, saline solution and half-calcined dolomite before admixing the coarse residuals in a second mixer.
