The invention describes a method for preparing a vitreous or pewter enamel stripper comprising 68 % by weight of a water mixture to which the following components are added: 11 % by weight of ammonium bifluoride (ammonium salts) with a concentration of between 96 and 97 %; 14 % by weight of glacial aceti c acid with a concentration ranging between 98 and 99 % and 7 % by weight of sulfuric acid with a concentration of 98 %, 68 % of the remaining mixture being water. The method for stripping the vitreous or pewter enamel involves dipping the enameled articles into a container or kettle at a temperature higher than ambient temperature.
