Thermoplastic material consists at least partly of poly (vinyl chloride) foam. An Independent claim is included for a method for making the material by heating PVC in an extruder press (27) to produce a paste. A liquid or gaseous material (49) is also fed to the press, which expands the PVC at the exit of the extruder, producing a foam strip or rod.
