IMAGED CHARACTER RECOGNITION DEVICE AND METHOD

An imaged character recognition device and method which can recognize with a good accuracy characters that are displayed in an image picked up from an arbitrary camera position even though character patterns picked up from a direct front direction only are stored in a recognition dictionary, wherein a character area is detected from a picked up image, characters inclined at the time of picking up are three-dimensionally converted into ones picked up from the direct front direction, and the converted characters are matched with character patterns stored in a recognition dictionary in which character patterns picked up from the direct front direction are stored to perform a character recognition.
