A refrigeration system has a compressor (18), a condensor (12), and an evaporator (16) connected in a loop to provide a refrigeration cycle designed for small heat loads of less than one Kilowatt. The compressor (18) has a first refrigerant compressor section (20) connected in the loop for receiving low pressure refrigerant fluid from the evaporator (16) and providing compressed refrigerant fluid to the condensor (12).
