In the present invention there are disclosed halogenated esters of the general formula I, in which X represents a chlorine or bromine atom and R represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group containing up to 4 carbon atoms, processes of their preparation and their use as intermediates when preparing insecticidal cyclopropane derivatives.
