Heterocyclic cpds. of formula (I)-(III) and their salts are new. (Where R1 = an opt. substd. hydrocarbon residue which is opt. bonded through a heteroatom; R2 = an opt. substd. 5-7 membered heterocyclic residue having, as a gp. capable of constituting the ring, a carbonyl gp., thiocarbonyl gp., an opt. oxidised S atom or a gp. convertible into them; X = a direct bond or a spacer having an atomic length of 2 or less between the ring Y and the ring W; W and Y are opt. substd. aromatic hydrocarbon residues opt. contg. a heteroatom or an opt. substd. heterocyclic residue; n = 1-2; a and b and a' and b' forming the heterocyclic residue are one or two opt. substd. C or hetero atoms; c, c' are opt. substd. C or heteroatom; in the gp. of formula (I) substits. on adjacent 2 atoms forming the ring are opt. bonded to each other to form a 5-6 membered ring together with the 2 atoms forming the ring; in (II) and (III), when a' or a" is an opt. substd. C atom, R1 and a' or a" may opt. be bonded to each other to form gps. (ii) or (iii) or forming a 5- to 8-membered ring; in (III), a" and e forming the heterocyclic residue are one or two opt. susbtd.
