An automated pressure-based method for automating the operation of a fuel cell system. The fuel cell system includes a fuel processing assembly that includes a fuel processor adapted to receive a feed stream from a feed assembly and to produce a product hydrogen stream therefrom, and a fuel cell stack adapted t o receive an oxidant stream and at least a portion of the product hydrogen stream and to produce an electric current therefrom. The method includes detecting an operating pressure associated with the product hydrogen stream, and comparing the operating pressure with at least one reference pressure. The method further includes automatically adjusting, via a control system, the operation of the fuel cel l system via command signals generated by the control system to achieve and maintain the operating pressure within predetermined limits relative to the at least one reference pressure. |
