PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thinner and storonger structure of a vertical position adjuster of a head rest device. SOLUTION: A driving shaft 51 and a guide 61 are transversely arranged in parallel with a seat back 2. A sliding contact part which comes into sliding contact with a head rest 3 is provided when a load not lower than that upon an ordinary operation is exerted on the head rest 3.
