PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a filter for cigarette smoke, capable of efficiently removing harmful components in a cigarette mainstream smoke and reducing a smoke component amount delivered to the oral cavity of a smoker. SOLUTION: This filter for cigarette smoke comprises a porous glass obtained by eluting a phase separation glass composed of at least CaO, B2O3, SiO2 and Al2O3 with an acid. The porous glass may be combined with a filter material. A cellulose ester (cellulose acetate, etc.), can be used as the filter material. In the case of combining the porous glass with the filter material, about 1-50 pts.wt. of the porous glass can be used based on 100 pts.wt. of the filter material. The filter for cigarette smoke has about 0.65-0.8(%) nicotine filtration ratio and about 0.65-0.8(%) tar filtration ratio (%) based on air permeation resistance (mm H2O/20 mm). Nicotine and tar removal ratios be can extremely improved by adding the porous glass to a cellulose acetate fiber.
