PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a line-length measuring device for a fishing reel capable of flexibly coping with the environmental condition compared with conventional device independent of the presence or absence of a bobbin thread. SOLUTION: The line-length measuring device is provided with a detecting means to detect the rotational number of the spool, a memory means to store the rotational number of the spool to wind a line to a prescribed diameter of the spool as a basic data for plural kinds of lines and store the line-length calculation formula, a setting means to select the basic data by external operation, a judging means to judge the presence of bobbin thread by comparing the real rotational number of the spool to wind the line to the prescribed diameter of the spool with the basic data set by the setting means, a calculation means to determine the line-length calculation formula based on the judged result from the basic data set by the setting means, the total rotational number of the spool to completely wind the line and detected by the detection means and the real rotational number of the spool to wind the line to the prescribed diameter of the spool and a display to show the line length.
