PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic sealing apparatus which is excellent in sealability and capable of preventing formation of corrugated melted resin beads by a method wherein admixtures such as juicy pulps are positively excluded together with melted thermoplastic resin out of a sealed area and the thickness and the width of the melted resin flowing out toward the side contacting with the liquid are controlled. SOLUTION: In an ultrasonic sealing apparatus which forms a packaging material made up of a laminated body including a thermoplastic resin layer into a tubular shape and applies an ultrasonic sealing crosswise to the tubular packaging material under the surface of a liquid, grooves capable of forming basins for melted resin are provided at applying surfaces of a horn having a flat, narrow and long sealing surface and an opposite jaw for pressing the packaging material together with the sealing surface of the horn on positions adjoining the areas at the side contacting with the liquid of the sealing area. Furthermore, grooves for forming basins for the melted resin or slopes for letting the melted resin flow from the sealing area to the side of cutting are desirably formed at the applying surface of the opposite jaw on areas adjoining the side of cutting for the sealing area. |
