PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing, using a web, an accurately finished saddle-stitched booklet which can be correctly folded starting from a position for a previously determined folding line without the deviation of the side face of a widely openable part of the completed saddle-stitched booklet from its right position as well as the saddle-stitched booklet free from such a trouble that the widely openable part cannot be fully opened on account of the failure of the glued part. SOLUTION: This method for preparing the saddle-stitched booklet using a web is to gather a plurality of webs after gluing while the webs are conveyed, then process the webs by cutting to the size of booklet sheets of every unit batch, and trim the three sides of the booklet sheets of every unit batch after folding the sheets in halves at a previously determined line for folding. When the webs are glued while being conveyed, a gap area is provided which is not superposed on the previously determined line for folding and is present between the previously determined line and an adhesive region for gluing.
