PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molded article manufacturing method capable of certainly performing the coating of a mold cavity with a paint (mold coating) for a short time. SOLUTION: After a soln. of a paint M is poured in the cavity 17 of an opened mold 7, the mold 7 is closed. A vacuum pump 34 is driven to evacuate the cavity 17 from the discharge holes 20a, 20b, 20c, 20d formed to the positions corresponding to the ring part and spoke part of a steering wheel. By evacuating the cavity 17 from a plurality of the discharge ports 20a, 20b, 20c, 20d, uniform and rapid pressure reduction is performed in the cavity 17. The solvent of the paint M is voilently boiled by this pressure reduction and the paint M is accurately applied to the cavity by the volumetric increase and foam breaking of the paint M at the time of boiling (mold coating). The evaporated solvent is discharged from a plurality of the discharge ports 20a, 20b, 20c, 20d.
