PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating a support for a solution film forming method for forming a surface adapted to an optical application by eliminating a surface fault with excellent flatness, a support, a method for manufacturing a film using the support and a film. SOLUTION: The method for evaluating a metal support for a solution film formation comprises the steps of casting a solution containing water for dissolving a resin in a halogen-containing solvent on the support to form a liquid film, drying the liquid film, releasing the film, removing the film, repeating the operations, and comparing surface faults of the support before and after the operations. The support, the method for manufacturing the film using the support and the film are provided.
