PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an acetate composite false twist yarn having a refreshing feeling of characteristic acetate yarn and suppressing a rough and hard feeling as a whole while leaving surface change of woven fabric and knitted fabric, an uneven feeling, a crepe feeling and a crimp feeling and to provide a method for producing the acetate composite false twist yarn. SOLUTION: This acetate composite false twist yarn is a composite false twist yarn constituted of an acetate multifilament yarn and another multifilament yarn and comprises S twist spiral twist parts and Z twist spiral twist parts alternately existing in random length in the longitudinal direction of yarn substantially as one yarn. This method for producing the acetate composite false twist yarn comprises doubling or subjecting the acetate multifilament yarn and the other multifilament yarn to fluid interlacing treatment, carrying out false twisting of the two arranged twisted or interlaced yarns by twisting, heat-setting and de-twisting, then separating the yarns and then taking up the separated yarn.
