PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet storage device capable of maintaining positioning performance even if components of the device are replaced for repair, etc. SOLUTION: This sheet storage device includes a frame body enabling another sheet storage device or an image forming apparatus to rest on its upper surface, a positioning mechanism for specifying the resting position and resting height of another sheet storage device or image forming apparatus resting thereon, and an outer component or functional component which can removably be attached to the frame body. The positioning mechanism is independent of the outer component or functional component.
