PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the cushioning properties on the end wall side of a pack ing cushioning body formed of a cardboard. SOLUTION: A cushioning body is provided with a pair of side walls 3 and a pair of end walls 5 on the periphery of a base 11, and a base member 1 forming the base 11 and the side walls 3 are formed separately from end members 2 forming end walls 5, and the side walls 3 and the end walls 5 are formed by rolling in respective members 1 and 2, and cushioning pawls 4 and 7 swinging alternately in the reverse directions are formed on top sections of the walls, and the ends of the side walls 3 are inserted into slits 29 on the end walls 5 to integrate both members 1 and 2 together. The side walls 3 and the end walls 5 are of the cylindrical structure, and the cushioning pawls 4 and 7 on the top sections are of superior shape retention properties and cushioning properties, and even when the large impact is applied in any direction on the outer periphery, the side walls 3 and the end walls 5 are not crushed and the impact applied to a material to be packaged is alleviated.
