PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently and readily producing a vinyl ester containing a fixed substituent in the molecule. SOLUTION: This method for producing a vinyl ether comprises transetherifying an alkyl vinyl ether of general formula (1): CH2=CHOR1 with an alcohol of general formula (2): R2(OH)m to give a vinyl ether of general formula (4): (CH2=CHO)mR2. The transetherification is carried out in the presence of a cobalt complex catalyst.
