PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spot welding machine which regurates the clearance of electrode tips by arbitrarily changing the internal pressure of the pressurizing cylinder. SOLUTION: In a pressurizing cylinder 1 to drive a electrode tip 4 of a spot welding machine by hydraulic pressure, anelastic member is arranged in the cylinder and a piston is fixed at a position where the piston thrust counter balances with the force of the resilient force of the elastic member and a means of controlling fluid pressure and its flow direction is provided in the hydraulic circuit of the cylinder. By means of varying the set pressure by electrical signal from the outside, the clearance of the electrode tip 4 can be steplessly controlled as it is driven by a servomotor.
