PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head making the temp. of a substrate almost constant over the whole of the region just under a heating element row to form a good printing image reduced in density irregularity. SOLUTION: In a thermal head wherein a ceramic substrate having a heating element row on the upper surface thereof is placed on a radiation plate 3, an adhesive 4 or self-adhesive with a heat conductivity of 1.8×10-3-2.2×10-3 cal/cm.sec. deg.C is provided in the region just under the heating element row in a strip-like state between the radiation plate 3 and the ceramic substrate and the width of the adhesive 4 or self-adhesive is made narrow in both end regions of the heating element row as compared with the central region thereof.
