PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which a high-purity iron aminopolycarboxylate can industrially and advantageously be produced by using magnetite as a raw material. SOLUTION: A high-purity iron aminopolycarboxylate is produced in high yield by heat-treating magnetite in a nonoxidizing atmosphere, thereby raising the reactional activity, using the active magnetite as an iron source and reacting the resultant active magnetite with an aminopolycarboxylic acid or its salt.
