PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing an aminoarylhydrazide compound useful as an intermediate for synthesizing coloring matter. SOLUTION: This method for preparing the aminoarylhydrazide comprises reacting a compound of general formula (I) (R1 and R2 are each H, an alkyl or an aryl; and R3 to R6 are each H or a monovalent substituent) or its salt with a compound of general formula (II) (R7 is an alkyl, an aryl or a silyl; and R8 and R9 are each H or a monovalent substituent) or its salt to form a compound of general formula (III) or its salt.
