PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce processing on the control section side of a printer body by providing a memory access control section controlling access to nonvolatile memories on the basis of instructions supplied from the printer body side control section between the nonvolatile memories provided on the printer body side control section and the ink cartridge side. SOLUTION: A device body control section 2 and a memory access control section 3 transmit and receive data by serial data communication. The memory access control section 3 reads a variety of information (quantity of remaining ink, month and year of starting using or the like) stored in nonvolatile memories 4 and 5 and stores in a RAM in the memory access control section 3. The device body control section 2 reads and renews information by issuing an access request instruction to the RAM. On the occasion of turning off a power supply, the device body control section 2 issues an instruction to write information back. The memory access control section 3 writes information back in the RAM to the nonvolatile memories 4 and 5. |
