PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new testis-specific gene which is involved in the spermatogenetic process, a new protein encoded by the gene, a genetically engineered animal in which the function of the gene is lost, and a pharmaceutical composition for improving the spermatogenetic dysfunction, and to provide methods for detecting a testis-specific protein and a testis-specific gene, a method for diagnosing the spermatogenetic dysfunction, and a method for screening the composition. SOLUTION: This gene is a nucleic acid selected from nucleic acids having base sequences shown by sequences 1-4, base sequences modified by substituting, deleting, inserting, or adding one base or more in, from, into, or to the base sequences, a degenerated or alternatively spliced nucleic acid, and nucleic acids hybridizable to the antisense chains of the nucleic acids, and expresses specifically in the spermatic differentiation latter term, and encodes a testis-specific protein which involved in the spermatic differentiation. |
