PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain unequal settlement by easily and inexpensively performing work, and effectively reducing a changing state of the peripheral ground at primary excavation time. SOLUTION: Before underground excavation executed in close vicinity to an adjacent building 10, an earth retaining wall 12 is constructed around an excavating area S, and a top part of this earth retaining wall 12 is restricted by being fixed to the adjacent building 10 via a fixing member 16. Thus, underground excavation is performed while restraining the occurrence of horizontal displacement of the top part of the earth retaining wall 12 via the fixing member 16.
