PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus capable of keeping sharp printing quality by preventing the lowering of the impact force of a printing head and eliminating density irregularity by preventing printing timing from getting out of a fundamental printing cycle when printing is performed in a medium speed printing mode in a printing apparatus wherein a printing speed is high and a printing cycle is short, a control method thereof and a recording medium realizing the control method. SOLUTION: In a printing apparatus enabling the designation of a plurality of printing speeds and forming editing data on the basis of the received printing data from a host device and performing printing processing on the basis of printing data wherein dots to be printed with respect to the editing data are decimated so as to become every other dot, a processing means moving the printing data after two dots when there is the printing data after three dots from the point of time when the printing data is detected at first to perform printing processing is provided and printing timing is allowed to coincide with a fundamental printing cycle.
