PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking apparatus for a double-bearing reel enabling fine adjustment of the braking force and the change of the adjustable range. SOLUTION: The centrifugal braking mechanism 23 of the double-bearing reel is a mechanism to brake a spool 12 by centrifugal force and provided with a cylindrical braking member 51, plural mobile members 52a-52f, a switching mechanism 59 and a shifting mechanism 54. The braking member is non-rotatable relative to the reel main body and movable in the direction of the spool axis. The mobile members are movably attached to plural guide shafts 56a-56f radially erected on a rotary member interlocked with the spool and the number of mobile members contacting with the braking member is varied by shifting the braking member in the direction of spool axis. The switching mechanism moves the mobile members at different position to switch the mobile members between a non-acting posture unable to contact with the braking member and a working posture capable of contacting with the braking member. The shifting mechanism shifts the braking member in the direction of the rotary axis.
