PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high corrosion resistant free-cutting stainless steel which is improved in corrosion resistance and outgassing property and in which, by controlling the composition of inclusions, oxides are stretched and made harmless and a fusiform shape suitable for machinability is provided to sulfides to combine machinability with machined surface finish characteristic. SOLUTION: The high corrosion resistant free-cutting stainless steel excellent in surface finish characteristic has a composition consisting of, by weight, <=0.50% C, 0.05-2.00% Si, 0.05-1.00% Mn, 0.05-0.50% S, 10.00-30.00% Cr, 0.0001-<0.003% Al, 0.005-0.04% O and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities or further containing, besides the above components, 0.0005-0.01% Ca. Further, as to the composition of sulfide inclusions of >=10μm major axis, the value of Cr/Mn by weight among the inclusions is regulated to >=1.
