PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an oil film break between the side faces of a pair of gears and the gear-side faces of side plates that partition a gear chamber of a gear pump. SOLUTION: In this gear pump, a pair of side plates 12 are fitted with a space into a cavity 18 of a housing, and a pair of gears 3, (4) are supported in a gear chamber 14 partitioned between a pair of side plates 12. Side face 33, (43) of the gear 3, (4) faces the gear-side face 22 of the side plate 12 and slide with each other. A large number of micro recesses 50 are dispersedly formed on the whole side faces 33, (43) of the gears 3, (4) by shot opening. The life of the gear pump can thereby be lengthened at low cost.
