METHOD FOR MODIFICATION TREATMENT OF METHANOL AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system capable of realizing high conversion efficiency for methanol in which the temperature distribution of a catalyst layer in the direction of gas flow is smoothened in a reactor, and steam modification for methanol can be performed throughout the whole area of the catalyst layer. SOLUTION: A method of modification treatment by the reaction of methanol with water and oxygen in a catalyst-containing reactor. This method and apparatus of modification treatment for methanol have the following features: the whole amount of the methanol and water are allowed to flow in from the entrance at the front stage of the reactor and allowed to flow through the whole portion of the reactor to the exit at the later stage of the reactor; and at the same time, a part of the oxygen is supplied in divided portions using at least two oxygen supplying ports placed in the midway of the reactor from the front stage to the later stage.
